Physical education prepares children to be physically and mentally active as well as fit and healthy for life, and this is one of our many goals for students at St. Louis King of France School. Our physical education program focuses on physical fitness and skills development, achieved through stretching and various exercises, as well as individual and team sports. Skills and athleticism are important, but attitude, cooperation, sportsmanship, leadership and having fun are equally as significant.
Students in the nursery (PK1) through Kindergarten have PE anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes once a week. Students in first through fourth grades have PE once a week for 70 minutes, and fifth through seventh grades have PE twice a week for 45 minutes each class. Hand-eye coordination and gross motor skills are crucial abilities for all ages as well as learning to have fun while exercising!
Physical education promotes leadership skills and self-esteem while teaching self-discipline and building strong peer relationships. P.E. helps out children reach their goals on the field, in the classroom and in life!
